Construction Leadership Council Action – One Industry Logo

There is an action within the Industrial Strategy: Construction 2025 to identify one card scheme which will be promoted through public procurement. The objective of this action within Construction 2025 is to provide clients, employers and contractors with a consistent means of recognising that an individual has achieved the agreed standard of qualification and skill in the occupation they are working in and to give the industry confidence in that brand.

At its meeting on 26 November 2014 the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) considered proposals relating to this action and agreed that from January 2015 the industry, including trade associations, contractors, clients and government should specify and promote card schemes carrying the CSCS logo with no equivalents accepted.

Young People On-Site

On behalf of the Strategic Forum and with the support of the Construction Leadership Council, Build UK has published a Guide to Employing Young People on Site to encourage work experience and employment opportunities for young people interested in a career in construction. The guide clearly explains what employers should expect from young people in terms of their behaviour and functional skills such as literacy and numeracy. It also sets out the appropriate level of supervision, insurance and safeguarding required together with a sample risk assessment which should lead to a positive and consistent approach to employing young people across the industry.
