What's new

During 2003 there have been two consultation phases for the Integration Toolkit, during which its content, structure and navigation have been incrementally developed and improved. The most recent phase of consultation concluded on 17 October 2003.

In this recent consultation there were very few comments on content; most comments were concerned with presentation and navigation. The following is a summary of what was suggested/recommended in your feedback, together with the actions taken by the drafting and design teams in response. This collective activity has led to this version, launched by the Strategic Forum for Construction on 9 December 2003.

We hope that you will continue to provide feedback to further improve the Toolkit, and to propose future projects or tools, for the benefit of us all.

What action we took

The benefits of integrated working need to be highlighted more prominently. They need to be clear hard benefits in order to convince people that it is in their commercial interests to use the Toolkit.

We have redesigned the home page so that the benefits are the main feature, expressed in commercial terms.

The navigation needs to be improved.

The home page has been substantially redesigned. We have re-ordered the sections to bring the 'Using the Toolkit' section upfront and renamed that section as 'Toolkit Guide'

It should be easier for first time visitors to get the most out of the Toolkit.

The restructured Toolkit Guide section (formerly Using the Toolkit) makes it clear where users should start. The Maturity Assessment has been given more prominence as an important starting point.

The overall presentation needs to be improved.

We have incorporated more visual elements and improved the layout.

Users should have the ability to print PDF versions of the workbooks.

PDF files of each workbook are included in this version.

Include a search facility.

We have investigated search engines and have not included them in this version because of the incompatibility of search facilities between Web and CD ROM versions, the poor quality and high cost of the available search engines.

Include the titles of the workbooks in the site map.

Titles of all workbooks are now set out in full in the site map.

Answer the question 'How do I do it?'

We now make it clearer what the Toolkit can and cannot do on the home page and in the Toolkit Guide section. There have been a number of questions of this type; we have added a new page with the ten most frequently asked questions.

Provide a summary of the tools and resources.

We now have alphabetical listings of tools and resources, colour coded to make it clear that they relate to supply chains, integrated project teams or more general use.

Simplify the Integrated Project Team workbooks.

We have merged the last four workbooks to create Workbook 6.

Put a date of revision on each workbook page.

Each workbook now includes the current version number and date on the footer of each page.

You could request proposals for tools that have been developed/used by users.

We have included an invitation to propose tools, linked to the feedback form on the Strategic Forum website.

Provide more examples of projects.

We have included an invitation to propose examples of completed or future projects.
